Star Swing (Hoshi no Buranko)

The “Star Swing” is a humanitarian suspension bridge located in the Osaka Prefectural Forest Hoshida Park. This suspension bridge is 280 meters long with a maximum height of 50 meters above the ground, making it one of the largest suspension bridges in Japan for a humanitarian suspension bridge.

This suspension bridge was built in the Hoshida Park at the same time as the climbing wall was constructed as the climbing venue for the mountain competitions of the 1997 Namihaya National Athletic Meet.

Katano City has many star-related legends, such as the Tanabata legend, Haccho Sansho, the legend of the falling star by Kukai, and Hoshida Myoken Shrine, and is also called “Katano, City of Stars.

From the suspension bridge, visitors can enjoy a beautiful view of the satoyama, a thrilling walk in the air, and seasonal plants, trees, flowers, and other natural beauty.

To access the suspension bridge, visitors can use the trail from the piton’s hut or “Yamabiko Hiroba.

Hoshi no Blanco is a representative nature experience spot in Katano City, where visitors can enjoy nature in all four seasons while strolling and hiking in Katano’s forests.

It is also a popular spot for viewing the autumn foliage, and usually attracts many tourists during the fall foliage season from the end of November to the beginning of December.

Access

Get off at Shikoichi Station on the Katano Line of the Keihan Railway.
Take the hiking course (Ikoma Traverse, Kawazoi no Michi) to Piton’s Hut, about a 40-minute walk.
From Piton’s hut, take Boken-no-michi (steep stairway) to Hoshi no Sanko (star swing), about 20 minutes. After that, it is another 5 minutes on a gentle managed path.
