Nakanoshima Park

Nakanoshima Park, a waterfront park sandwiched between the Dojima River and the Tosabori River, is a lush green oasis located in the heart of the city, extending approximately 1.5 km and covering an area of 10.6 ha.

This park was the first park established in Osaka City in 1891, and is beloved by citizens.

At that time, the park had Osaka’s first beer garden, cafes, and other facilities offering urban recreation and relaxation.

The park was also home to two high quality restaurants, the Ginsuiro Western-style restaurant and the Seikaro Japanese-style restaurant.

In addition, Noh plays of the Kongo school were regularly performed on a Noh stage called Suiryukan, located behind the current Central Public Hall.

The Jiyutei Hotel was the only hotel in Osaka equipped to accommodate foreigners, and next to it was the Naniwa Hot Springs. It was a very luxurious park at the time.

Today, the park has a rose garden with approximately 4,000 roses of about 100 varieties, which are at their best in mid-May and mid-October. At the end of the year, the garden is illuminated, attracting many visitors.

The Central Public Hall, the Nakanoshima Prefectural Library, and other retro buildings stand in close proximity to the park, and the scenery has been selected as one of the “100 Best Greenery in Osaka.

Nakanoshima Park is one of the best places to enjoy nature in Osaka City, and is loved by many people.
