This urban park, redeveloped from the site of the International Garden and Greenery Exposition (held in 1990), is a vast site of approximately 126 hectares with many facilities to enjoy.
The Sakuya Konohana Pavilion, one of the largest greenhouses in Japan, is an all-glass greenhouse botanical garden that displays 15,000 plants of approximately 5,500 species from around the world. Plants growing in all climatic zones, from tropical to arid, alpine to polar, are on display and are a sight to behold.
There is a place for migratory birds to rest around a large pond, and pavilions and gardens from the time of the exposition, in which 53 countries exhibited, such as the International Garden, Japanese Garden, and Water Pavilion Hall (Tsurumi Sports Center), are still in place.
There are also sports facilities such as a horse riding park, ball game and sports fields, and heated swimming pool, recreational facilities such as a barbecue plaza and campground, and facilities where visitors can learn about environmental issues such as the Lively Earth Museum and Nature Experience Observation Garden.
Although some facilities charge a fee, most areas in the park can be enjoyed free of charge. Visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers and plants, and events are also held.
The vast park is filled with nature and greenery, including a children’s playground, a flower garden, and a windmill. This park is an oasis in the city that you and your children can enjoy together. We hope you will visit the park.
