Osaka Aquarium KAIYUKAN)

Kaiyukan is one of the world’s top aquariums with the themes “Ring of Fire” and “Ring of Life.

Here, indoor aquariums reproduce the natural environment surrounding the Pacific Ocean and are among the top five aquariums in the world in terms of size. The aquarium is one of the top five in the world in terms of size, with 580 species and 30,000 animals on display.

The “Pacific Ocean” tank, where popular animals such as whale sharks and Japanese spiny dogfish swim, is a huge tank with a maximum length of 34 meters, a depth of 9 meters, and a volume of 5,400 m³ of water.

There are a variety of tanks with different themes, including the tunnel-shaped tank “Aqua Gate,” “Antarctica” with penguins, “Ecuadorian Rainforest” with capybaras and pirarucu, and “Japanese Forest” with otters and giant salamanders.

The entire building of Kaiyukan is said to represent the “Pacific Rim of Life,” and visitors can go up to the 8th floor and walk down a ramp to see up close the various fish and oceanic expressions that inhabit the 10 regions.

Also popular is the “Fluffy Jellyfish House,” a facility that exhibits only jellyfish.

Visitors can re-enter the museum as many times as they wish on the same day by completing the re-entry procedures.
If you enter after 5 p.m., you can also catch a glimpse of the night life of the fish.

Kaiyukan is a fascinating aquarium and a wonderful experience.
