The retro brick structure is a historical building designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan and was influenced by the Glasgow School in England, and still retains a strong atmosphere of that time.
It was built in 1912 as a company building for a stockbroking company. Later, it was used as the headquarters of a trading company, and in 1997, the current owner revitalized it as an English tea and sweets store.
Currently, the first floor is an English-style cake and tea store, and the second floor is a coffee shop for tea connoisseurs with an English antique atmosphere.
The building has two stories above ground and one below, and is constructed of brick. The second floor is wide open and has an English antique design.
The interior is decorated with English doorknobs and light switches, creating a very stylish and relaxed atmosphere.
The most popular menu item is the afternoon tea set, which includes cakes, scones, and sandwiches. The tea selection includes about 40 varieties from England, France, India, and other countries. The cakes, which are handmade daily, have a reputation for being very delicious.
The cafe space on the second floor overlooks the Nakanoshima Rose Garden and is the perfect place to spend a midday break.
